The Fight for Number 3

By Eric Zanzucchi (@ericzanzucchi)

Tuesday night in Chicago Gary Johnson (Libertarian), Jill Stein (Green), Virgil Goode (Constitution), and Rocky Anderson (Justice) met for the third party presidential debate. Jill Stein is lucky she got out of her holding cell in time for the debate. (I’m sure she got arrested intentionally.)

The debate featured our 3rd-6th most popular candidates for president and the level of organization was fitting. Larry King moderated and forgot to ask the candidates for their opening statements. He asked the first question and we got a round of answers with the opening statements coming about 25 minutes in. That was a nice start.

As you can imagine some of their ideas were pretty crazy. Are you sitting down? Some of the candidates thought that marijuana should be legal. Wait, I actually agree with that. Well some of these nutjobs wanted serious reductions in military spending. Hold on, I agree with that too.

As the debate wore on the more I thought about it, the more the candidates made sense. Having said that, no chance in hell I am voting for one of them.

P.S. The highlight of this night for me was Gary Johnson calling Romney and Obama “Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dumb”.
